Empathy for Children

Image
How to Teach a Child Empathy Empathy is the ability to genuinely understand and care about how other people feel. In order to develop healthy relationships, children need empathy. Empathy serves as a moral compass and also the foundation of emotional and social growth. All kids, although capable of empathy even from infancy, are not born with the skill. However, empathy for children can be taught and practised through play, conversational games and verbal expressions.  If you want to know how to teach a child empathy, focus on guiding them as they progress through different stages in life. Also, work on helping them practice empathy using age-appropriate lessons, which includes familiarizing them with words tied to feelings.  If you have kids who are yet to master the empathy game, now is the right time to teach them. Let’s dive in. Written By: Mrs. Eunice Omwirhiren Head Teacher Golden Site Int'l Academy,  Zaria.

NIGERIA THE MIRACLE NATION

Covid-19: Why Nigerians Must Not Worry But Stay Alive When I read the news that crude oil price in the international market has dropped to about $11 or $12 per barrel, I was reminded about an interview I watched on the NTA Network Service. That night, the person featured on the interview program was an American born Economist (I have forgotten his name). He visited Nigeria to validate the speculation that Nigeria was actually the Giant of Africa. In course of the interview, the interviewer asked "you have spent two weeks in Nigeria carrying out your research about the strength of her economy, what are your findings?" He replied "well, I wouldn't say I enjoyed my stay really but I discovered that Nigeria is the strongest economy in the world." He went on to explain that "I have not said she is the most prosperous economy of the world, mind you. I say so because Nigeria happens to be the largest economy that can survive with the absence of government support ...

Today Will Regain it's Colour.

I n bed, reminiscing the countless times I wish weekend has no end, and the funfairs of Saturdays and Sundays are not fair enough in each having 24hours with other days of the week. I even hiss at some realisations that "it's Monday again".   Life, they say is a mystery indeed. Every day now look the same, kids are tired of their daily charade and shenanigans play. Everyone seems to have had enough. The ever busy streets and markets are resting today. I crane my neck out my widow and see few men in Khakis trying to keep men apart. In my sleep paralysis, I even hear the voices in the streets divided on whether to run from the new death's recruit outside or its familiar agent inside. Fully awake now and stepping out, I can hear the sound of people several streets away without straining my ears, I can even see several street ahead if I stand on tiptoe, there are men in uniform at almost every corner in the neighborhood, shouting and giving only one order "go back i...

. THIS WILL HELP SOMEBODY!!! Yesterday (25/04/2020), I read that about 25% percent of those with Covid-19 in Nigeria have no travel history or contact with infected persons. That's according to the NCDC. Now this is possible, it was first observed in Italy, and later in the US. You can be locked in at home, and the virus still meet you there. One means by which that can happen is MONEY, cash! Yea, long ago during one of my safety trainings, I learnt that money(cash) is the most exposed 'entity' in the universe. That money in your hand, depending on how long it has been in circulation, most likely has traveled more than you. So even before Covid-19, I had learnt to wash my hands after every contact with cash. This is difficult, but I have done it for over 6years now and it has become part of me. This is important because people can sanitize their hands, and right afterwards dispense cash. Our idea...
